Are You Aware Fluoride in Your Drinking Water is Toxic?

ATTENTION: American citizens

  • Are you aware you are drinking fluoridated water?
  • Are you aware your “Freedom of Choice” has been taken away from you?
  • Are you aware fluoride is a neurotoxin?
  • Are you aware the theory that “fluoride is good for your dental health” is a hoax?
  • Are you aware that you have been misled by more than 7 decades?
  • Are you aware that chemical companies have been dumping their toxic wastes into our water supplies and have the audacity to charge us for them?

The average American today is exposed to a whole lot more fluoride than he or she is probably aware. Conventional produce, it turns out, is one of the most prevalent sources of fluoride exposure besides fluoridated water, as conventional crops are not only irrigated with fluoride-laced water in many cases, but also sprayed with pesticide and herbicide chemicals that have been blended with fluoride, and later processed once again with fluoridated water.

This fact may come as a surprise to many who have bought into the idea that eating more fresh produce is automatically beneficial for health, regardless of how that produce was grown. Thinking that they are doing their bodies a favor, millions of Americans have incorporated conventional fruits and vegetables into their everyday diets, not realizing that the resulting cumulative effect of fluoride exposure from these foods could be harming their health.

Many food crops uptake fluoride chemicals from water, soil.

According to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), nearly 75 percent of the U.S. population is being forcibly medicated with fluoride chemicals via their water supplies. This means that a significant percentage of U.S. crops are also irrigated using this same fluoridated water.  As of December 31, 2014, 79.0% percentage of State of Texas population is receiving fluoridated water according to CDC Water Fluoridation Reporting System. [1]

While not all crops uptake fluoride from water in the same amounts, many absorb significant amounts of fluoride through their root systems every time they are watered. Tea plants, for instance, are among the worst when it comes to absorbing fluoride from soil and water, and storing it in their leaves. Grapes are another crop that tends to accumulate fluoride in high levels as well. [2]

In the case of conventional produce, fluoridated pesticides and herbicides can add to overall fluoride exposure and intake levels.

Fluoridated pesticide, herbicide residues often lurk on conventional food

Because of its extreme toxicity, fluoride is often added to pesticides and herbicides in order to protect conventional crops from insect damage and disease. But just like with fluoridated irrigation water, fluoridated crop chemicals often absorb directly into plants, or at the very least, linger on the skins of the fruits and vegetables they produce, which adds to their fluoride toxicity. [3]

There are, in fact, more than 150 different fluoridated pesticides currently approved for use on conventional crops, none of which are typically indicated on produce labels. Chances are that if you eat conventional fruit, vegetables, or nuts, you are more than likely eating varieties that have been sprayed or fumigated with fluoride chemicals, which are prohibited from use on organic crops.

As reported on recently, conventional grapes are often sprayed with the fluoride-based chemical pesticide cryolite, which is often sold under the trade name Kryocide. This particular pesticide actually contains substances that facilitate the passing of fluoride across the blood-brain barrier and directly into brain tissue, which makes it exceptionally toxic. [4]

This compounded exposure to fluoride from fluoridated irrigation water, fluoridated pesticides and herbicides, airborne fluoride chemicals, and fluoridated water used during processing or reconstitution after harvest renders many conventional fruits and vegetables fluoride saturated.

Admittedly, many organic crops are also exposed to fluoride via irrigated water just like conventional crops are. But at least organic crops are not sprayed with fluoridated pesticides after harvest, and many organic foods are processed after harvest using purified water, as indicated on their ingredient labels, which means they contain less overall fluoride than their conventional counterparts.

The Fluoride Action Network (FAN) has created a helpful guide entitled 7 Ways to Avoid Fluoride in Beverages and Food that will help you discern how best to avoid fluoride when shopping for other types of food. For more details, visit: http://www.fluoridealert.org/content/grocery_guide/

Why should we avoid fluoride that has been touted as the most important agent that can prevent dental decay?

Fluoride is one of the most dangerous health threats in our environment, and its widespread use makes it challenging to avoid. Fortunately, many in the health and science fields are working toward change and many of these individuals have voiced their concerns in the new documentary Fluoride: Poison On Tap:

Fluoride: Poison On Tap is a new documentary that interviews leading health experts and takes a look at the science and health issues associated with the superfluous administration of fluoride in the public water supply. In Fluoride: Poison On Tap, you’ll discover why many communities and cities worldwide are choosing to opt out of fluoridation. In this groundbreaking documentary you’ll learn why water fluoridation is among the worst national health mandates ever implemented. The evidence is clear and The Lancet even published a paper recently that discussed fluoride as a neurotoxin. The time to wake up is right now, and this documentary will provide that wake up call.

Fluoride Exposure Can Have Serious Health Consequences

Many people have been wrongly convinced that fluoride is necessary for dental health. In actuality, fluoride is extremely toxic and fluoride ingestion is one of the most common reasons for calls to Poison Control. The health consequences from fluoride exposure, water or otherwise, can be horrendous…

Fluoride is a neurotoxin that could cause damage equivalent to that from a traumatic brain injury; children living in highly fluoridated areas have up to five times greater chance of developing a low IQ compared to those who do not. [5]

Were you told fluoride is good for your teeth and that is why it is added to our drinking water? Learn about Dental fluorosis.

Dental fluorosis is a common disorder, characterized by hypomineralization of tooth enamel caused by ingestion of excessive fluoride during enamel formation.

The degree of damage, including visual intrinsic tooth discoloration, is dependent on the dose, duration, and age of the individual during the exposure to fluoride. The “very mild” (and most common) form of fluorosis, is characterized by small, opaque, “paper white” areas scattered irregularly over the tooth, covering less than 25% of the tooth surface. In the “mild” form of the disease, these mottled patches can involve up to half of the surface area of the teeth. In the  “moderate” form, all of the surfaces of the teeth are mottled and teeth show brown stains and frequently disfigured. Severe fluorosis is characterized by widespread brown discoloration and teeth appear corroded. [6]

Yes, there are different ways to remove fluoride from our drinking water, such as buying filters that can filter out the fluoride or buying bottled water without fluoride. But why should we have to do that if we can get our government to stop pouring fluoride into our water supplies in the first place?

My personal story:

I was born in Mainland China in a small town and lived there until I was 10 years old. My family obtained our water supply from a family well in our courtyard. Obviously there was no fluoride added to our water because we did not even know what fluoride was. When I was growing up in Hong Kong as a teenager, water came from reservoirs that collected rain water to supply the whole city. My point is that I did not grow up drinking fluoridated water, I do know that my mother ate a lot of stew with pig’s feet, black vinegar and ginger every time she was pregnant.  I have the strongest teeth anybody can have. I am retired now. I still have all my teeth intact including all my wisdom teeth and I seldom go to the dentist for any dental work. I can crack pistachio nuts with my teeth without any problem.

On the other hand, my husband of 30+ years is from Louisiana. He often mentioned how his father used to heavily spray his home grown vegetables with different kinds of insecticides and herbicides including DDT, Malathion and others. I suspect in addition to receiving fluoride from their drinking water, they also received an additional dose from all the insecticides and herbicides his father spray on their home grown vegetables. All his family members had bad teeth. His mother had full mouth denture when she was in her mid-40s. My husband spent tens of thousands of dollars on dental care including implants throughout the years. If he tries to crack a pistachio nut with his teeth, they would fall out right away.

My personal story is my testimonial that fluoride not only does not contribute to good dental health, they actually can cause more dental problems especially in children.

Parents are advised by The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) not to use drinking water containing fluoride to mix the baby formula.  Most powdered infant formulas already contain fluoride. This will help reduce the risk of too much fluoride, which can lead to dental fluorosis.

The advocates in the documentary are right. Our government has taken away our right to choose. Consumers are being forced to spend their hard earned money to buy expansive filters to get rid of the fluoride added to our drinking water or buying bottled water without fluoride. It does not have to be that way.

I have written a “PETITION LETTER” to The City of Austin to stop adding fluoride to our water supplies.

You are welcome to modify this letter in your own words or you can just copy and paste this letter in the message field of this link: http://www.austintexas.gov/email/health and then click “SUBMIT”.

If you do not live in Austin TX, but you do live in areas with fluoridated drinking water, you can send a printed letter to: Health and Human Services Department of the city you live in.

To get the momentum of our petition going, may I suggest that we all forward this article to our friends and relatives on our mailing list and invite them to send the petition letter as suggested above.

Let’s not be a sitting duck!

“PETTITION LETTER” to your local government to stop adding fluoride to your water supplies:

Send email to:  Health and Human Services Department

Subject: Petition to stop adding fluoride to our water supply

Message:

There are plenty of scientific evidence proofing that fluoride is dangerous to our health, especially to infants and young children.
consumers were advised not to use tap water to mix the baby formula and instead parents should buy bottled water without fluoride for that purpose. If the water is not good for our babies, why should it be good for adults? [7]

In addition fluoride does not contribute to our dental health.
